Welcome to Interesting facts about the continent of Africa!
We will be taking a virtual trip to the continent of Africa to learn about the Population, culture, geography, climate, spirituality, and natural resources
Learners will travel virtually to the continent of Africa and hopefully gain a deep respect and understanding of the continent. 
For Kids & Teens
In this 4-week course, students will travel to the continent of Africa to learn more.

This friendly course is designed to provide insight into the African continent from an African tutor,
We will explore the Geography, the weather, Religion, Culture, Food, Language, Music, and Modern Day Life.

We will also explore the ecology of Africa - Looking at the different environments (Sahara, Congo Rain forest, Seas, etc.) and wildlife.

Five regions will be explored

1. Western region
2.Eastern region
3.Southern region
4.Northern Region & Central region

At the end of this session, we do an important reflection and pulse check exercise to ask ourselves: Have my perceptions changed? 

Our goal is to build a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the continent of African for children of African descent, Black Children, and indigenous children whilst also provide a learning experience for their non-Black friends and allies.

Schedule:
Dates: Saturdays: October 2, October 9, October 16, October 23, 2021
Time: 6 pm Doha time, 4 pm London time, 4 pm Lagos time, 11 am New York time.



How does it work?

This class is structured to promote curiosity, respect, engagement, and creative thinking among learners. 

Students will have access to the course area and all the online materials during the week to study. 

On Thursdays, there will be a 45 minutes Zoom Q&A session.
During the Zoom sessions, we will discuss the materials and address any questions.

Our teaching style is very informal and nurturing. All our tutors encourage participation, we also respect our students' desire to listen and absorb until they are ready to contribute.  All of our students will have a chance to speak and share as they feel comfortable.

We take care to be positive and kind when giving responses and feedback. And we encourage participants to do the same

Class structure

Learners will experience African history in a way that affirms and educates whilst building self-knowledge, self-pride, respect for themselves and for others. 
A typical class structure looks like:

  • 10-Ice breaker+ check-in 
  • 10  minutes reviewing previous lessons
  • 15 minutes of discussions, lectures, and videos 
  • 15 Minutes: Q&A




FAQs

What is the age range?

This is an interactive course.
Kids 6+ and Teens will benefit from the knowledge.

Do students need any previous knowledge or experience?

African history is world history.
Everyone is welcome to learn, no previous experience needed to take the class.
All questions are welcome!

How long does the course last?

4 weeks.
Students will have access to the prework materials one week prior to the first session.
Students  Access to the course area until October 30, 2021
Slides and materials will be sent after each Zoom session

Is this course live?

It is hybrid.
Students will have lifetime access to all the online learning materials from the comfort of their homes.
There will be 4 Zoom sessions (45 minutes each) held weekly for  discussions, and Q&A
Kids are free to comment with their questions in the learning area or email me and a response will ALWAYS be provided.

Do I receive a certificate?

Yes, Learners receive a course completion certificate

How many children can join?

The price covers one child, a second child is free to join at no cost. A surcharge of 15€ is applied for a third child and for additional learners of one family.
